Walpurgisnacht [Halloween]. Donald hat sich vorgenommen, sich von den Neffen ... more
Based on the animated cartoon »Trick or Treat« (1952, directed by Jack Hannah); Barks worked from photostats of the storyboard sketches while the film was still under production.
Originally 32 pages. Barks replaced the first half page (splash panel showing a cemetery in the foreground and a church tower and a witch in the background) with 1 1/2 newly drawn pages on instruction of Western. Between p. 16 and 17 in the version published by Western, 9 pages were cut because they did not match the film story (mainly: Donald's fight with the monster Smorgasbord). Between the 5th and 6th panels of p. 19, another page is missing (Donald against a cactus) which Barks possibly removed on his own initiative. The original start panel and 9 7/8 cut pages still exist.
Smorgasbord does not appear in the censored version.
CBL: 32-page restored version with the original start panel; one missing panel was replaced with an image assembled from several drawings of the story. In the 4th panel of p. 2, the text was changed. The alternate start sequence is also documented.

The 7th panel was slightly trimmed at the edges by Western to make room for a text pointing to the cut-out Halloween mask on the back cover.
CBL: Barks' original layout was reconstructed.
